Silk is a fibre. Satin is a weave. Only one of them is silk.
Most "satin" pillowcases on the market are polyester woven to look shiny. They feel cool for a night and pill within a month. Mulberry silk is a protein fibre with a smooth, low-friction surface — and it behaves completely differently against skin and hair.

The only part that can break is the part we left off.
Silk does not fail. Hardware does. A zipper is metal or nylon teeth sewn onto a woven tape, and it sits in the worst possible place: the edge of your pillow, against your face, going through the wash every week.
Detergent, heat and fabric softener attack the mechanism. The teeth catch hair. The tape is not silk, so a “100% silk” case with a zipper is not 100% silk at the closure. And when a slider finally seizes, the case is finished — you cannot get a pillow in or out of it again.
